The Twin Flame Dance

"To escape the world I've got to enjoy that simple dance"

                                                     - Blood on the Dance Floor, Michael Jackson

Two flames burning dance around each other.  They both begin at the same point, but their varied movements entice and conflict with one another.  Sometimes the flames join and one brilliant flame extends upwards in unison.

The dance of twin flames is internal.  There will be times when you are at odds; times when you are in harmony; and times you realize just how different you are; then times you realize and marvel at how much you are the same.

It's been said that flames rarely incarnate in the same group.  One may be very rich, the other very poor; one could be a celebrity, the other a normal Joe on the street.  Your perspectives then will come from two different places.  Your lessons from two different paths.  What a wonderful way to learn and grow with each other.  For when faced with the opposing side of a thought, you are also faced with yourself.  Your learning then is either gained, or the very existence of another part of yourself is denied.  The denial is more painful than the acceptance of the lesson and so the dance ensues.

In a "normal" relationship, the dance is external.  We take a husband or wife, a boyfriend or girlfriend and show each other our best sides, tell them what we "think" we like (seriously do we really know sometimes?) and who we "think" we are (again, really?  I'm an accountant really doesn't say much when you look at the whole picture.).  The external dance imposes limitations on each other, masks of personalities and expectations for how the relationship should be.  With twin flames, it is the opposite.  The dance is internal.  The lessons are reflected within.  The expectations become moments of surprise and bewilderment, for this is most often territory not spoken of.  Society has not taught you to look within, nor that there is another part of yourself that lives there.

There will be internal struggle to gain mastery and knowledge over what you don't know.  Most often flames unite in their last incarnation, so some of the tools you will use will have been gained in previous life times.  You will find, however, that the lessons this time around will be harder.  Your mastery will be tested.  For the higher you climb into the light, the greater the shadow side will be.  How far have you come?  Have you mastered yourself enough not to get entangled once again into the dance of the ego and create more karma?  When someone pushes your buttons, how do you respond?

Spiritual dancing is like this:  Your flame is your partner.  You poke and prod, edging each other on.  As you take a step back, they may take a step forward, but the dance itself always leads you into the upward spiral of unity.  For in each step you will awaken to your true self.  Each step you find out something new about yourself, because even though you may have been born into different circumstances, you will find your flame has an almost identical internal make up as you do.  The lessons then that you fail to see by yourself will be mirrored to you by your flame.  When you awaken, you will ponder why it is this person is so much like you.  You can see so clearly what it is about them that they lack and when you do, you will realize you lack the same thing.  It is in this way you can internally awaken to your mastery and gain the knowledge you need to overcome your obstacles.  This is the dance of the flames.  The eternal yearning for union and the road to self mastery and wisdom.
