Man in the Mirror Project - The Meaning of Freedom

In Michael Jackson's song entitled Earth Song, there is a verse that talks about setting the common man free:

  "What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
What about the common man
(What about us)
Can't we set him free
(What about us)
What about children dying
(What about us)"

If you remember it is Saint Germain, the leader in our new evolutionary consciousness, that has allowed us to serve under him on his seventh ray, the ray of freedom.

So what is it that is exactly meant by freedom?  We're not in captivity from a slavery point of view, so what could this actually mean?

Freedom means being able to be free from our own restrictions.  The restrictions that we ourselves place upon us that keep us bound to anger, distrust, confusion and anxiety.  Even sadness, loneliness and despair, all come from our ignorance to the knowledge that we can be free from the patterns held within us that we serve on a continuous basis unconsciously.

One of the great avatars of our time, Sri Aurobindo describes this freedom we are working towards with the Man in the Mirror Project perfectly.  He says:

"Anyone with some intelligence and power of observation who lives more in an inward consciousness can see the play of invisible forces at every step which act on men and bring about events without their knowing about the instrumentation.  The difference created by yoga or inner consciousness - for there are people like Socrates who develop or have some inner consciousness without yoga - is that one becomes conscious of these invisible forces and can also consciously profit by them or use and direct them."

 -Sri Aurobindo

This is a powerful statement.  The first question to ask is what are these invisible forces and how are they set into motion?  We've been given clues through the years.  With books and movies like The Secret, and verses from the bible, such as we were created in God's image, it can only lead us back to one place:

It starts with us (the creators (7); the Man in the Mirror.

Where?  Our inner consciousness

How?  Our thoughts

How can we control these forces?  We become conscious of them.  For it is only then that we can begin to change them and direct them to change the circumstances of our life
